The staff at the Woodworking Source is comprised of experienced woodworkers. Each sales person on our staff has detailed experience with specific aspects of working with wood and also has had exposure to most, if not all, of the types of projects our store supports. Here's the folks you may meet at your next visit:
Ralph - the owner of the Woodworking Source. After an extended career at a major technology firm Ralph went on to work with two pre-IPO technology firms before an early retirement. Having been taught throughout his life a number of trade skills by his father, Ralph selected woodworking as his chosen retirement hobby. After ten years of retirement filled with travels and advancing woodworking skills Ralph chose to open the Woodworking Source following the failure of the local Woodcraft franchise.
Jeanette - after a long career in law enforcement Jeanette came to Nevada to retire and took up woodworking. She has extensive experience in turning pens, bottle stoppers and the like - and is now getting into bowls and other forms of turning.
Larry - Larry Marchant spent his career as a fishery biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, working at a number of National Fish Hatcheries, primarily in Northwest. Larry retired to Nevada in 2011 with plans to devote more time to his hobbies of woodworking and fishing. He enjoys pen turning and is currently developing his skills in creating life-like bird and fish wooden carvings.
Chris - Chris retired from an extensive career in law enforcement as a detective in San Diego. To maintain his sanity early in his career Chris took up woodworking. He’s been an avid wood worker for years and has extensive knowledge of most major power tools such as table saws, band saws and routers. Chris works part time in the front of the store and is taking on an increasing number of class teaching assignments.
Marc - Marc works with us part-time in both the office and sales roles. He comes to us with a wide range of skills and experience in business and financial management. Most recently he was the CFO at a major non-profit here in Reno, and has been a loyal customer of the store since we opened. Married for over 40 years, with three children and three grandchildren, Marc is a devoted parent and a zealous woodworker. His experience is primarily in woodturning, but he is rapidly acquiring knowledge of our entire product set and our internal operations. Marc is always ready to share woodworking ideas and loves engaging customers in discussion about tools and techniques.
